Too good not to share!

Motivational Quote of the Day "A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes." Hugh Downs   So, I get this motivational quote every day and they are usually pretty good.  Every once in a while there is one that really either hits home or makes me say "That's what I've been saying!".  This is one of those.  I have learned that the level of your happiness is directly related to how you react to things around you.  Your reaction is a choice, not a predetermined response.  You can train yourself to make the choice to react positivley in any circumstance, it takes work and is not always easy but is well worth it in the long run.  It is important to realize though, that reacting positivley does NOT mean just accepting that what happens happens or that it's all good.  There are many bad things that need to be reacted to, doing so positivley just means accepting that it happened and working on dealing with it.  So the next time something bad happens try to remain positive and see how it makes you feel, I can say from experience that it is much easier to deal with life's little bumps.  And, when you put things in the grand scheme, most everything is just little bumps.   Until then...

All Gone...

Well, a chapter in our lives has closed. This evening we delivered our truck to it's new owner. A couple of weeks ago we delivered the camper to it's new owner. And a couple of weeks before that we delivered the Probe to it's new owner, really would have been easier to sell it all as a package, but couldn't find anyone that crazy! Why would we get rid of all of them, you may wonder? We decided that it was time to do more instead of thinking of doing! It is amazing how much time you can devote to just one thing and not realize it. Camping is fantastic and we always managed to have a lot of fun, but we realized that we weren't doing anything else even though there was a lot we wanted to do, so it was time to change. Look out there's that evil word CHANGE...So, with the thought of change in our minds we decided to see what life will bring us when we are not either planning, camping or working on the camper. It has opened up all sorts of things that we had forgotten we liked doing and so far it has been great.

I guess the "lesson", if there is or needs to be one, is take time to step back and reassess what you have and what you are doing with it. Make sure that you are living life to the fullest and not just pouring all of your time and energy into one thing. After all they say that variety is the spice of life, whoever "they" are!

So...look out world, here come the W's!

Messing with MY Settings.....

Someone who shall be nameless was using MY LAPTOP...thus messing with my settings, thus resulting in the following post.....the nameless, accused would be the owner of THIS BLOG. And his messing with my settings, totally threw his absolute wonderful, perfect significant other over the edge as she had to do this damn post twice....

Gone Fishing....

Ya never know what your going find at our house. Keeps you guessing and keeps me hopping. I was working in yht scrapbook room and went upstairs to do something and this is what I found...

Hmmm........

She casted. A little string action, and she has a bite.

It got away. She casts again....

She scored a few points on this one.

Now here it gets a little bit sloppy. Someone went to "blog class" at the library the other night and was learning how to add pics - no it wasn't me - I prefer to continue to wing it - anyhow that person must of been messing with my settings.....

This time she tries a different type of lure....

Trying New Things

Let's see if this works...I am trying to post this via e-mail, if you are reading it that means it worked...I also found that I can put in up to 10 e-mails to send the blog to anytime I publish something new, if you would like to get an e-mail like that let me know and depending on the numbers I can add you to my list.  You can also get an RSS feed, but I just started learning about that so I couldn't explain it if you begged me too!

Blogging

So here I sit, at my local library, taking a class on blogging and RSS feeds, while posting on my blog. Interesting fact, 12 years ago there were no blogs, now the estimate is over 300 million! China alone is estimated to have over 100 million alone, lots of blogs for such a private country. So I guess that there are alot of blogs out there for you all to check out, thanks for picking this one to check out! So if you are looking for a place to find the most popular blogs, or ANY blog for that matter check out http://www.technorati.com/. For now I'm going to start paying more attention!

The Most Important American Holiday

Veterans Day, why do I feel it is the most important? Allow me to fill you in. The United States of America is a fantastic country to live in. Veterans Day is to celebrate the people who served in our armed forces in order to protect this great country. I feel that it is the most important because without those who served we would not be here as the United States and therefor would not be able to celebrate ANY holidays. Kind of makes sense, right? This November 11th take some time to remember all those who served and the sacrifices they made. Also remember their families and the sacrifices that they made as well. Make it a point to say thank you to a Veteran, they deserve to know how much they are appreciated.

Monday Morning

Mondays are usually tough for me, I am really not a morning person and Monday is usually the mother of all mornings! Today isn't all that bad though, in fact it's pretty darned good. Todays weather is sunny and warm with a high in the mid 70's, very unusual for this area, got some good news from a family member and a couple of nice good morning e-mails! Almost makes me like Monday mornings. Yeah, ALMOST!

Attacking Others in Cyberspace

Quite a catchy title, isn't it? I am looking for feedback on this one. It can be anonymous, and if you do not want it published here just say so and I will not publish it, but PLEASE give me some feedback.


An online community, such as blogs, Facebook, Myspace or twitter can be very powerful tools. They can be a blessing to people who are separated by great distances in allowing them to keep updated on the goings on in each others lives, they can be great for groups that cannot meet in person, they are even great for families to visit through. One thing that an online community should not be is a way for someone to personally attack another person. You may wonder, "How is that possible?". Let me run this by you and let me know what your thoughts are. I know someone who has, on six separate documented occasions, made comments online that are a direct attack on someone else that I know. These comments have been made very cleverly, so that the person making them can sit back with an air of self righteousness and say "It just sounds that way." or "If you really think that is what I am doing, you must have a guilty conscience" or any number of other self promoting ideas like that. It all makes me want to jump in and say ENOUGH, just grow up already, get on with your life and leave it alone!

So what are your thoughts? Am I expecting too much from an online community? Is this a reasonable use of this venue or is it out of line?....

Conditioning

So, the other day I got an e-mail with a list of funny questions, well some were funny. One of them was "Why do they put braille on drive up ATMs?" This struck me as funny because just the day before I went to my credit union's new drive up machine and was actually surprised that there was no braille on it. Just how much have we been conditioned to what is normal and what is not? Oh well...
